Abstract :
A novel broad-band microstrip equalizer is presented in this paper. Spiral resonators with thin-film resistors are employed to construct the equalizer. In the traditional design of equalizer, the spiral resonator is not loaded in the main line, but coupled with the main line. In this paper, we designed an equalizer with the spiral resonator loaded in the main line. And compared to the traditional microstrip equalizer, the size is largely reduced. The merit of this structure is that it can be integrated in a device without additional space. By the simulation of HFSS, it is confirmed that the structure can be used to design an equalizer. Finally an equalizer is designed, fabricated and measured and their response matches well with the simulated results.
