  • Abstract
    A fuzzy self-adaptive EDM (electric discharge machine) control system is presented. By using fuzzy theory and applying a fuzzy control method, a detailed analysis of the gap voltage, one of the most important EDM process parameters, is made. A fuzzy rule library is obtained and a fuzzy controller is constructed based on the analysis. Self-adaptive control of the EDM process is realized by the self-adaptive regulation of the input quantization factor and the output proportional factor of the fuzzy control system. Experimental results show that this system has good self-adaptability and high reliability, which results in higher productivity
