Abstract :
The sensor deployment is a critical step in the implementation of wireless sensor networks. During the deployment, sensors are hoped to be deployed as evenly as possible, so that the network can monitor a bigger area. The evenness is an important metric of the deployment of a network. We formulate and investigate an Evenness Measurement problem in a two-dimensional continuous space. We propose a measurement method with two steps to compare evenness between two deployments. An algorithm for the method to calculate Evenness is also presented. We apply the method in certain probability model of detection to find the weakest point in the wireless sensor network.
