Abstract :
MLSE experiments supporting 10 Gbit/s, 1000 km uncompensated G.652 fiber transmission, have been successfully performed. However, a residual 2 dB OSNR-penalty, nonlinear effects and Viterbi processor complexity may constitute fundamental limitations to actual MLSE exploitation in long-haul links.
