Abstract :
The electrical breakdown of SF6+Ar binary mixtures is studied experimentally under uniform electrostatic fields for different contents of SF6 in the mixture. The total gas pressure is also varied as a parameter from 50 kPa to 200 kPa. The breakdown strength of SF6+Ar has increased dramatically with smaller percentage of SF6. However, for higher SF6 contents, the breakdown voltages did increase monotonically but not dramatically
