Abstract :
AC breakdown voltage (BDV) measurements were carried out for four kinds of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), CCl2F2, CClHF 2, and nitrogen in gas phase of 5 to 200 kPa using sphere-plate and a needle-plate gaps. It was found from comparison in BDV among these gases, that all HFCs are less than 60% of CCl2F2 and less than 80% of CClHF2 under the sphere-plate gap at 100 kPa. The BDV decreases with diminution of the number of halogen atoms per molecule. The order of BDV among all gases under the needle-plate gap is the same as the order under the sphere-plate gap
