Abstract :
NOx is one of major air pollutants which cause acid rain. Bacterial population composition of biofilms in biotricking filter is analyzed with one culture-independent method by PCR-DGGE. It has been found that Nitrobacter sp., Acinetobacter sp, Thermomonas sp. and Chloroflexus sp., are the dominant species of biofilms. Nitrobacteria are the primary bacteria which oxidize NOx into NO3-. Autotrophic bacterium which acts on the nitrification is symbiotic with heterotrophic microbe in biotrickling filter.
