Abstract
Periodic structures are obtained under action of linearly polarized laser beam (407 nm) on AgCl-Ag films. Linear dichroism is observed in film absorption spectra. For the first time dichroism found to survive chemical removal of AgCl. Dichroism is explained by anisotropy of light absorption by Ag particles in grooves.
