Abstract :
The author describes how the key objective of privatisation of the electricity and gas industries is to introduce effective competition in generation/production and end-use, both between fuels and between the providers of fuels. He outlines how the goal is to have completely open markets, such that all suppliers are able to choose their generator/producer, and all consumers are free to choose their supplier
