  • Abstract
Shunt connected Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices such as Static VAR Compensators (SVCs) and Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOMs) are used by utilities to prevent voltage instability events and to improve power transfers, by industrial customers to improve their own power quality, and by renewable power generators to help them interconnect to the utility system by meeting a variety of grid code performance requirements.
