Abstract :
China has the world´s second largest electric power industry, and is planning to modernize its power network into a strong and smart grid. Superconducting cable offers the advantages of lower loss, lighter weight and smaller dimensions, as compared to conventional cables. It will have broad application prospects in Chinese power grids, and now an 110kV HTS cable project is being planned in Beijing. This paper describes the site selection of 110kV HTS cable, and put forward some investigation about the system configuration, control and protection system of the cable.
