Abstract
While methods of end-to-end testing for the PSTN (public switched telephone network) are well-established, this is not the case for VoIP (voice-over-IP) networks. In a VoIP network where the carrier is large-scale (numbers of network elements and sites are large), we should be able to realize end-to-end testing mainly by combining commercial products, such as monitoring tools and test-call generators. We propose a system for the end-to-end testing of networks at the carrier level, clarify the technical elements that the system will require and conditions that apply, and describe a suitable software structure.
