Abstract :
The IEEE 802.11 medium access control protocol uses the distributed coordination function that supports asynchronous data transfer and an optional point coordination function that supports connection-oriented time-bounded data transfer. A new protocol based on the exponential distribution function of the Markov type is integrated with the distributed coordination function that supports high and low access priority for a particular station to use the channel bandwidth. The main benefit of this protocol is that it is simple and allows for dynamic reservation of bandwidth. Preliminary results of simulations on the bandwidth access of this protocol is given and analysed.
