Abstract :
In the steel reinforced concrete members, since the main reinforcement in beams may pass through the steel web and flange of the steel reinforced concrete columns, perforation in the section steel can´t be avoided When the perforation ratio of the hole is large, it is necessary to strengthen the section steel. The regular practice is to welding the reinforcement plates to the main steel column with plug welding around the holes, which is not convenient in construction and the quality of the plug welding is hard to guarantee. In this paper another two strengthening methods were proposed, which were welding the reinforcement plates to the main steel column with front fillet welding and all around welding. Then, with three welding methods, several steel section columns, under axial and eccentric compression and of different perforation ratios, were analyzed and compared by ABAQUS finite element method. The results indicated that the two proposed welding methods are effective.
