Abstract :
This paper proposes a rate-distortion (RD) based optimal macroblock (MB) intra/inter mode switching decision scheme for a H.26L video stream under wireless error channel. Based on the statistics model of error propagation, this work adopts a reduced computation RD optimal mode switching decision scheme. It can come up with a higher error robustness video stream than the conventional H.26L mode decision algorithm and multiple decoder algorithm. The experimental results under typical 3GPP/3GPP2 channel condition show that it has robust error resilient ability and good stability.
