Abstract :
In CDMA communication systems, smart antenna can be used to suppress multipath fading with antenna diversity and to increase the system capacity by supporting multiple co-channel users. Although many existing and new array signal processing techniques are being proposed for the smart antenna scheme, most of the performance evaluation to date relied on computer simulations or theoretical analysis based on typical model or assumptions. The paper shows a smart antennas testbed adopting a scheme using DOA (direction of arrival) estimation and beam tracking technology. The conformation and system parameters of the testbed is presented, and the new algorithms for DOA estimation and pattern synthesis are proposed at the same time. The practical experimental results show the good performance of the smart antenna testbed
