Abstract :
The vibration tendencies of conventional strand and conductor with regard to tension have been established for some time. The same cannot be said for all dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cables. This paper describes a field study undertaken to evaluate the effects of tension on the aeolian vibration levels of ADSS cable. In addition, tests were conducted to verify that vibration could be reduced with dampers. The investigation found that as tension increases on ADSS cables, so does the vibration severity
