Abstract
The chief aim of the present work is to investigate the application of marching cubes algorithm in X-knife radiation treatment plan system. Based on image segmentation and distance fields, marching cubes algorithm is applied to accomplish 3-D organ surface reconstruction. Practical surface smoothing strategy and acceleration technique are employed to optimize the organ surface reconstruction. Marching cubes algorithm is also restricted to 2-D situation to build up a practical image segmentation algorithm based on active shape model.
