Abstract :
Motorola is investigating network architectures to support anti-jam wireless communications for the Advanced Telecommunication/Information Distribution Research Program Consortium sponsored by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. It is envisioned that the network architecture will contain a distributed network control structure and mobile nodes. A major challenge in a distributed mobile wireless network is to maintain a required “quality of service”. Inherent to maintaining “quality of service” is to maintain network connectivity. Terrain effects, friendly/unfriendly interference and mobility can severely limit the connectivity causing rapid changes in network communications. To overcome the communication challenges in a distributed mobile wireless network, smart networking techniques must be developed. This paper describes the network architectures under investigation and the modeling and simulation efforts that are performed to analyze the effectiveness of the networks. This paper also describes how the parallel study of an anti-jam modulation scheme will be linked into the anti-jam network architecture study
