Abstract :
In this contribution an alternative viewpoint for class A power amplifier (PA) optimum load analysis is provided. The approach is based on the representation of a non linear device by its linear equivalent circuit and on precise hypothesis on the output controlled current source, in order to reproduce the limitations due to the device non linear behaviour. Exact calculations have been carried out and closed form expressions have been derived, for output power optimisation and power-added efficiency optimisation. The theoretical results are compared to the real behaviour of a non linear device, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach
