Abstract :
The paper introduces the two switched reluctance motors parallel drive system. The component parts of the system are presented. The three open-loop control strategies are introduced with the mathematical models. There is the difference in the mechanical properties of the two motors because of the difference in the manufacture. The essential condition of balancing the distribution of the loads of the two motors in the parallel drive system is that the mechanical properties of the two motors are soft at the certain rotor speed range adopted by a certain control strategy. An electric locomotive driven by the two motors parallel drive system has been developed based on the PWM open-loop control at the high rotor speed range and the phase current chopping open-loop control at the low rotor speed range. The tested difference in the output torque of the two motors at the same rotor speeds is within 10%
