Abstract :
Vehicular networks provides new opportunities to develop innovative and advanced solutions for making reliable communication among vehicles. Efficient information dissemination in vehicular networks requires high density of vehicles on the road. Information forwarding is a very critical task since vehicular networks often lack continuous end-to-end connectivity and are characterized by large variations in node density. It becomes more difficult to maintain connectivity between vehicles to vehicles (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure when density of the vehicles gets low. To address this problem, we proposed an effective solution to provide reliable communication in vehicular networks and provide better connectivity. In this paper, we proposed vehicular network design and information forwarding algorithm that provide effective communication capability shown in our simulation results. The proposed solution for information forwarding in low density traffic is simulated by SUMO (a vehicular traffic simulator) and QualNet (network simulator). The simulation results show that the proposed approach enhance the data delivery ratio in intermittently connected vehicular ad-hoc networks.
