Abstract :
The author begins by discussing the evolution of Ethernet and fast Ethernet. The standards structure is then discussed including the role of 100BASE-T. The CSMA/CD MAC protocol and the physical layer schemes (PHY) are considered and the author concludes by mentioning work on the Ethernet standard
