Abstract
The problem of evaluating the capacity of the up-link in a multimedia CDMA wireless system is addressed. In the presence of classical correlation receivers, a proper resource sharing policy, which accounts for the source rate and the quality of service requirement of each class of users, is analysed. The important features of this policy are: (a) it allows one to maximize the system capacity; (b) it allows one to mitigate the detrimental effects of residual power control errors; and (c) it provides an effective exploitation of soft capacity
