Abstract
A workstation for the application of image processing to pictures for molecular biology, taken in an electron microscope, is described. These techniques are becoming more and more important for the determination of the spatial structure of specimens. The workstation, based on an IBM PS/2-80 microcomputer, is capable of performing a wide range of operations on images of biological objects, in the areas of picture processing, three-dimensional reconstruction, and three-dimensional computer graphics. The most important characteristics of the workstation, as well as the main operations it can perform, are described. An example of the processing of a biological specimen is also included
