Abstract :
The paper reports on the breakdown behaviour of solid/liquid surfaces in uniform and non-uniform electrical field arrangements as function of the test procedure, type of liquids, surface roughness of the rod, tracking performance of the rod material and contamination of the liquid. The results are obtained mainly with AC voltage at power frequency and to some extent with lightning impulse voltages
