Abstract :
Modeling techniques play an important role when designing or managing a business process. Compared with the production process, the business process involves many uncertain factors caused by humans and organizational issues that make it difficult to model. To support process management and to measure the quantitative impact of possible changes in a business process, a computer-aided simulation modeling technique is proposed. This paper presents a case study on applying the simulation technique to analyze and redesign a sales and distribution process in the machine manufacturing industry. The potential utility of the simulation technique for supporting a business process redesign is discussed and validated.
