Asset management of Castle Peak Power Station a mid-life review

This paper introduces the approach Castle Peak Power Station (CPPS) adopts in managing its generation asset. The power station started operation in 1982 and with its last generation unit put into services in 1990. An asset management framework has been developed to manage the generation asset aiming at maintaining the high reliability of the asset by overcoming the challenges of new equipment failure modes faced by typical middle-aged plant while meeting the increasingly stringent operational requirements from safety, availability and emission perspectives.
