Abstract
We consider the problem of signal design for MIMO radars, where the transmit waveforms are adjusted based on the characteristics of the radar scene. A model for the radar returns which explicitly incorporates the transmit waveforms is presented. The waveforms are designed to optimize the estimation of the radar scene. An adaptive design can provide improved estimation performance compared to fixed designs such as the one employing a set of orthogonal waveforms.
