  • Abstract
This paper studies MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control performance in the existence of noise, paying special attention to the output degradation problem of photovoltaic (PV) system. So called Perturb and Observe (P&O) method is chosen among many MPPT methods. In particular, exponential moving average (EMA) is used as a preprocessing filter, which is a data averaging technique, and its effect on the output power is discussed. Varying the illumination scenario, the DC output from the chopper is carefully studied by numerical simulation. It is confirmed that the degradation in output power decreases when the proposed method is used.
