Title :
The Multitaper Method for Accurate Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Environments
Author_Institution :
McMaster Univ., Hamilton
Abstract :
In this paper, we begin by describing an essential requirement in cognitive radio: accurate spectrum sensing of the electromagnetic radio environment surrounding the receiver. Then, we describe the multitaper method that is well suited for fulfilling such a requirement. The paper also describes a recently developed interpretation of the multitaper method as a filter bank algorithm.
