Abstract :
This paper presents low-power dynamic MIMO detection for a 4×4 MIMO-OFDM receiver. A MIMO-OFDM achieves high-speed and large capacity communication. However, it imposes high computational cost in MIMO detection to separate spatially multiplexed signals and requests large power consumption. To solve this issue, we propose dynamic MIMO detection using dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS). The proposed detection computes the weight matrix across multiple packets. DVFS dynamically controls an operating voltage and a clock frequency in the MIMO detector. This architecture has been implemented into pipelined MMSE MIMO detectors which were developed in our previous researches. We report the evaluation results in communication performance and power consumption.
