Abstract
An adaptive zone configuration system for land mobile communications was examined using a developed circular, 8-element array antenna. First, experiments were conducted to determine whether the antenna pattern could actually be controlled. These were done utilizing developed prototype antenna and the linearly constrained minimum variance (LCMV) and least mean square (LS) methods. Secondly, a new function is proposed for more simply deriving the parameters which is provided to both methods to be used in configuring desired cellular zones. Also we proposed an algorithm for grouping the distribution of users to define the desired adaptive cellular zone
