Abstract :
Green building (GB) has become an important new direction of research in the architectural realm during the last decade. With constantly emerging new technologies, materials, methods and tools, contemporary GB design gradually possesses more comprehensive features compared to many traditional buildings. This paper indicates the multi-disciplinary feature of GB design implied in existing environmental assessment systems, and states the need for synthesis of knowledge from more disciplinary areas as well as the need for more comprehensive analysis in the GB design process, based on which it states some new functions and approaches of architectural education and discusses how the organization, content and methods of architectural education can be adapted to the multi-disciplinary features and needs of GB design.
