The urban spatial expansion is the physical display of urban development on spatial form. It is also the urban development result by the joint effort of different factors, which include natural and geographic factor, construction conception and method, social and political factor, urban economic development, scientific and technological development, and urban culture. These factors are not only dependent with themselves, but also different from each other. Yueyang, a waterfront city with rich history and culture, has its own pattern in the urban spatial expansion.
