Abstract
This paper analyse the properties of an air-core wire wound coil. The purpose is to build a reliable model for the optimization of the coil receivers for inductive wireless power transfer. By studying the characteristics, the parameters governing the coils can be obtained. This is important as air-core coils are more difficult implement due to the lack of a ferrite core. Therefore, the parameters governing the air-core coil must be accurate to ensure stability and reliability. An assessment is also included in this paper to derive the viability of the model developed. This will provide systematic approaches to the modelling and also verifies the solution. The module derived from this paper is applicable for sensor, charger and implanted applications.
