Abstract :
In this paper a new technique of Z-Source Inverter (ZSI) based Solar Power Generation is developed and simulated using MATLAB-Simulink toolboxes. The Photovoltaic solar cells are better option for converting solar energy into electrical energy. Initial high cost and low efficiency PV cells have not yet been a fully attractive alternative for electricity users. For improving the performance, Z-Source inverter can be used in place of conventional Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) in Solar Power Generation System. The PV cell model is developed using basic circuit equations of the photovoltaic solar cells including the effects of solar irradiation and temperature changes. The Z-Source inverter is implemented to realize boosted DC to AC conversion. Results show that the energy conversion efficiency of ZSI is much better as compared to conventional voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The developed system is tested for linear and nonlinear load. The Harmonic Analysis has been done to know the quality of the power generation.
