Abstract
This paper proposes an alternative method to control a recently proposed switch mode amplifier for actuator array. The method is using an optimization algorithm to find the switching states that provide the best approximation of the required mean output voltage across each actuator. Subsequently, the method is used to evaluate the performance of the switched mode amplifier. The evaluation results show that although the proposed switch mode amplifier configuration reduces the number of switches per actuator, it imposes restrictions on the range of output mean voltages that are obtainable across each actuator.
