Abstract
In this paper, the steady-state throughput of random-access packet broadcasting in optical CDMA network is analyzed, where the packet size is assumed to be fixed. Since the MAI and beat noise pose a significant impact on system performance in T/W optical CDMA system, using error correction code is an effective way to alleviate such adverse impact. Accordingly, the bit error rate can be further decreased. The coding mechanism we employ is based on trellis coded modulation and equal weight orthogonal signaling scheme, which can drastically improve the throughput of the optical network. In addition to the multiple access interference and beat noise, some negative effects in system performance are also taken into account, which include thermal noise, shot noise, and relative intensity noise.
