Abstract :
The paper has presented the mutually conflicting requirements of a transceiver processor (DSP) in the cellular application. The process of analyzing and mapping the requirements to a new DSP architecture in the context of present technological capabilities and limitations has been presented. The proposed DSP architecture meets the requirement for the immediate DSP requirements for the cellular applications but 3rd generation cellular application will bring new challenges and requirements to push the cost and performance barrier even further and the DSP architecture community need to be prepared for solving a whole new sets of problems and issues
