Abstract
In this paper we explore the possibility of carrying out digital watermarking together with the 3-band wavelet decomposition. We also compare the same with 2-band approaches and establish the superiority of the 3-band approach in several respects. First we broadly classify techniques used in image watermarking and then apply the two kinds of decompositions to each of the techniques. We apply several kinds of attacks, like blurring, filtering, compressions, etc., and generate results for both decompositions. The results are then compared on three criteria: image quality, confidence measure and technique complexity.
