Abstract
The authors present a generalized description of a patient-monitoring system. This description covers virtually all existing systems. Emphasis is put on topics which are particularly suitable for the application of LSI and VLSI technologies, and some illustrative examples are given, ranging from ECG monitoring to implanted telemetry systems.
