Abstract :
Using 4 times 4 transfer-matrix method, the effect of magneto-optical anisotropy on a photonic crystal gap (PBG) structure is theoretically studied in detail. Numerical results show that the appearance of the off-diagonal elements in the dielectric tensor leads to modification of band structure such as width and centre frequency of the bandgap. We further confirm that through the tuning of the magnitude of the external magnetic field, it is possible to adjust the photonic band structure.
