This paper describes the design, development, and operating experiences using the digital plasma control system on the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR). This VME-based system has been used for three real-time control applications on TFTR, plasma position and current control, piezoelectric valve control using pulse width modulation, and impurity gas injection feedback control
