Abstract :
In this paper, bounds on the individual outage rate regions are obtained for quasi-static fading multiple access channels (MAC), with no channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and with channel estimation errors at the receiver. This paper extends earlier work on individual outage regions by modeling the effects of channel estimation errors. The bounds are derived for heterogeneous users who have different outage requirements to ensure a required quality of service (QoS) and also different path losses. The effect, of the number of training symbols used for channel estimation, is also studied and the training time is determined to maximize the total throughput. Based on these results, training preambles can be designed for packet transmission in quasi-static MAC.
