Urban ecological security is the basic condition for urban sustainable development. To ensure the ecological security, we must uphold the principles of beneficial to ecological security in all aspects of urban development. In this paper, As an example of Tianjin Urban Area, we combine the content of urban land layout in urban planning and research about ecological security evaluation, analyse the features of urban land layout in downtown area of Tianjin, proposed the land use eco-security evaluation system (LUESES) in the downtown area of Tianjin, and give the guidance for the land use optimization of Tianjin downtown construction according the result of the ecological security evaluation.
