Abstract
Community detection in complex network becomes increasing popular in recent years. Most existing community detection algorithms are limited to deal with non-overlapping communities, which dose not work well on overlapping community detection To address this issue, this paper gives an overview of overlapping community detection, involves community definition, detection algorithms, as well as the evaluation metric, especially focuses on analysis and comparison of the existing overlapping community detection algorithms including the basic ideas of the algorithms, and its performance. Summarization has been drawn to show the advantages and the drawbacks of the algorithm. And finally we give a forecast of the development of overlapping community detection, which would be helpful to researchers dedicate to this field.
