A practical approach for smart meter applied in demand side and distributed generation

Development of renewable power sources are growing up rapidly. They can help to reduce the energy generated from power plants and thus to reduce the carbon mission to reduce the impact on climate change. Smart meters can be used not only from the supply side monitoring but also for the demand side management as well. This paper presents a practical approach for smart metering in demand side and distributed generation applications. Results obtained from typical sites will be used to demonstrate the capability of this approach.
