Abstract :
Wave energy harnessing becomes a hot issue in exploiting renewable resources. In order to convert wave energy into mechanical energy and further using generators to produce electricity, various wave energy converters have been proposed. In this paper, these wave energy converters, including both the rotational generator type and the linear generator type, are reviewed. Consequently, a direct-drive linear generator is proposed and analyzed for wave power generation. Finally, the wave energy potentiality in Hong Kong and the corresponding wave power generation feasibility are discussed.
