Abstract :
This work presents a new systematic approach to design impedance measurement systems for living cell detection and monitoring. The hardware of the system was implemented in PCBs as a proof-of-concept. A DAC channel generates the required excitation signals to be applied onto the living cell and the current flowing through the cell is converted into voltage and digitized by an ADC channel. An FPGA is used to control the operation of the whole system while a LabVIEW program is written to provide a graphical user interface to control the system.
